Upscaling OBS Recording For YouTube 1440p

As mentioned previously OBS can upscale your recordings instantly to 1440p, see the screenshots for details.

Set the following options in OBS

  • Base (Canvas) Resolution = 1920×1080
  • Output (Scaled )Resolution = 2560×1440

Next go to the Output option and set the recording options

  • Tick Rescale Output
  • Type the resolution = 2560×1440

I am also using the Intel QuickSync H.264 Encoder with the following settings, choose whatever encoder settings you require for your setup.

  • Target Usage = Speed
  • Profile = high
  • Keyframe Interval = 2
  • Async Depth = 4
  • Rate Control = ICQ
  • ICQ Quality = 20

This will record everything in 1440p@60fps, upload to YouTube and wait for the video to finish processing. (EDIT: I now use software to upscale and keep OBS capturing at 1920×1080)
